Interventional radiologist

An Interventional Radiologist (IR) uses a range of techniques which rely on the use of radiological image guidance (X-ray fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography [CT] or magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]) to precisely target therapy or perform a diagnostic procedure. In patients with primary aldosteronism, an interventional radiologist performs adrenal venous sampling (AVS) to determine whether a single adrenal gland or both glands are producing excess aldosterone.
