Angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB)

Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are medications that block the action of angiotensin II by preventing it from binding to receptors on the muscles surrounding blood vessels. As a result, blood vessels enlarge (dilate) and blood pressure is reduced.
