Yokohama Rosai Hospital

Endocrinology & Diabetes Center at Yokohama Rosai Hospital

Since the opening of the hospital, it has been the specialized medical facility in Yokohama to be able to simultaneously treat endocrine and metabolic disorders. In endocrine disease, the main focus of this center is adrenal disease, including many cases of primary aldosteronism, Cushing’s syndrome, and pheochromocytoma. The center developed a diagnostic treatment algorithm centered on adrenal venous sampling (AVS) diagnosis recommended by the current PA guidelines, and since 2006 it has been possible to make a diagnosis with higher accuracy than conventional AVS . They also have developed selective adrenal venous blood collection (SS-AVS) and have been using it for daily medical care since 2008. In 2010, they started partial unilateral adrenalectomy, a minimally invasive surgical treatment based on the SS-AVS diagnosis, together with the hospital’s urology department. The hospital currently does 150 AVS procedures each year and 50 adrenalectomies.
